Passengers traveling as tourists must have a medical insurance to pay for Coronavirus (COVID-19) treatment costs. The insurance must be issued by a company in Costa Rica or approved by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism.

- This does not apply to passengers who have been only in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland or United Kingdom in the past 14 days.
Passengers arriving in Costa Rica must:
- have a medical certificate with a negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) test result issued at most 48 hours before departure; and
- have a medical insurance issued by an insurance company of Cost Rica.
A "Pase de Salud" must be completed at https://salud.go.cr/ before departure.
