Passengers without a medical certificate with a negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) test result are subject to quarantine at their own expense.

Passengers arriving in South Africa:
- are subject to medical screening; and
- must install COVID Alert South Africa mobile app; and
- must have a medical certificate with a negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) test result issued at most 72 hours before departure.

Passengers who have been in Hong Kong (SAR China), Portugal and Singapore must have a visa. They are subject to medical screening.


12.06.2020 12:00: cancelled forced isolation for passengers who arrive from or after 9 March 2020 have been in China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.), Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.
Visitors arriving in South Africa after 9 March 2020 from China (People's Rep.), France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.), Spain, Switzerland, USA or United Kingdom will be confined to their hotels until they have completed a 14-day period of quarantine.


12.06.2020 12:00: cancelled entry restrictions for passengers who arrive from or have been in China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.), Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.
Passengers who have been in China (People's Rep.), France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.), Spain, Switzerland, USA or United Kingdom are not allowed to transit or enter South Africa.
This does not apply to passengers with a visa or a permanent residence permit issued by South Africa.


15.05.2020 15:30: updated flights restrictions for all international flights.
Flights to South Africa are suspended.
This does not apply to:
- flights authorized by the ministry of transport;
- flights bringing back nationals of South Africa. They will be quarantined for up to 21 days;
- medical evacuation, aircrafts in state of emergency, air ambulance which must only carry airline crew and patients. They are subject to quarantine.
Flights not mentionned above must obtain a written permission from the department of transport before departure.
