Travel restrictions update for Canada

  • Updated entry restrictions.
    Until 21 June 2021, passengers are not allowed to enter.
    - This does not apply to passengers without COVID-19 symptoms traveling for a non-optional or non-discretionary purpose. They must comply with the requirement to quarantine based on their purpose of travel and intended length of stay if required.
    - This does not apply to immediate family members of nationals and of permanent residents of Canada without COVID-19 symptoms. They must prove that the purpose of their travel is to be with their immediate family member who is a national of Canada or permanent resident of Canada and that they intend to stay for at least 15 days.
    - This does not apply to extended family members of nationals and of permanent residents of Canada without COVID-19 symptoms. They must:
    -- prove that they intend to be with their extended family member who is a national of Canada or permanent resident of Canada and that they intend to stay at least 15 days; and
    -- have a statutory declaration signed by the Canadian national or permanent resident attesting to the relationship; and
    -- have a letter issued by IRCC.
    - This does not apply to passengers without COVID-19 symptoms who enter on Compassionate Grounds and have a letter issued by PHAC.
    - This does not apply to passengers without COVID-19 symptoms, traveling for the purpose of an International Single Sport Event, with a letter issued by the Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage (PCH).

    Passengers must submit their information electronically, at most 72 hours before arrival, through the ArriveCAN app or the website https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/arrivecan.html

    Passengers must have a negative COVID-19 test taken at most 72 hours before departure of the last direct flight to Canada. Tests accepted are: CRISPR, Ct, detection of the E gene, detection of the N gene, detection of Orf1a/b, detection of the RdRp gene, detection of the S gene, ddPCR, isothermal amplification, LamPORE, NAAT, NAT, NGS, PCR, qPCR, RNA, RT-LAMP, RT-PCR, sequencing and WGS. Test results issued in India or Pakistan are not accepted.
    - This does not apply to passengers younger than 5 years.
    - This does not apply to passengers with a positive COVID-19 test taken at least 15 days and at most 90 days before departure of the last direct flight to Canada. Tests accepted are: CRISPR, Ct, detection of the E gene, detection of the N gene, detection of Orf1a/b, detection of the RdRp gene, detection of the S gene, ddPCR, isothermal amplification, LamPORE, NAAT, NAT, NGS, PCR, qPCR, RNA, RT-LAMP, RT-PCR, sequencing and WGS.

    Passengers are subject to a COVID-19 molecular test upon arrival and another test during quarantine.
    - This does not apply to passengers with a positive COVID-19 test taken at least 15 days and at most 90 days before departure of the last direct flight to Canada. Tests accepted are: CRISPR, Ct, detection of the E gene, detection of the N gene, detection of Orf1a/b, detection of the RdRp gene, detection of the S gene, ddPCR, isothermal amplification, LamPORE, NAAT, NAT, NGS, PCR, qPCR, RNA, RT-LAMP, RT-PCR, sequencing and WGS.
